Ripley based company Evans Concrete, specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of precast concrete, has been awarded two contracts with a combined value approaching £300,000 for projects in Nottingham and Birmingham.
The first project is for Morrison Construction on behalf of British Waterways as part of a nationwide project to improve the country’s canals. Evans will design and manufacture pre-cast portals, edge beams and deck units which will be used to construct a new elevated walkway alongside Meadow Lane Lock and the River Trent to complete the “missing link” for pedestrians between the canal towpath and existing riverside walkway.
The second project was awarded by Tomlinsons on behalf of the NEC Arena in Birmingham. Evans will be involved in the design and manufacture of 100m long retaining walls as part of an improvement scheme for the entrance of the arena. They will also be designing innovative new concrete seating areas covering a 30metre area which will be an intrinsic part of the outdoor landscaping of the project.
Chris Foster, managing director of Evans Concrete, said: “We’re delighted to have secured these contracts and look forward to building on our relationships with both clients.”
