Evans Concrete has secured contracts worth £750,000 for two projects on the North West coast.

The Derbyshire specialist bespoke pre-cast concrete firm has been awarded a major contract for work on the new multi-million pound Kings Waterfront complex in Liverpool.

The project includes the design and manufacture of retaining wall cladding panels to the external works of the Liverpool Arena and Conference Centre.

The contract has been awarded by Installers of Concrete Products (ICP) and work is due to start on site in October, with completion by January 2008 for the start of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture.

Evans’ further work in the North West is part of a £14.5million re-development of the site surrounding Southport’s Floral Hall and seafront.

The contract, from main contractor Allenbuild, is for the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke hard landscaping features such as stairs, planters and copings.

Evans has previously worked with the landscape architects involved in Southport’s re-development, Landscape Projects, on a £400,000 project for ceremonial stairs and special wall cladding panels at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

Garry McBride, chairman of Evans Concrete, said: “We’re consistently expanding our portfolio of projects across the UK and we’re delighted to be returning to the North West.  Working with Landscape Projects again is testament to the quality of our work on Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral five years ago.”

The new contracts come as Evans undergoes a number of company changes due to recent success and growth, with the introduction of a fresh corporate identity and the appointment of a new managing director.
